Last year's Gig

We all had a great time at MIUG2007! If you weren't there, you missed a good thing. We'll have the signup link here in a couple of months, for 2008. You'll be able to reserve your spot (and get a good discount) if you sign up early, but you don't have to pay til we get closer to the date.

If you'd like to see who was there: Button (Note: some attendees are not listed at their own request: if you don't want your name listed set your directory preferences at Regonline).

CD's for 2007

I've been editing the Camtasia files from the gig. This year, it's much easier than in the past. First off, Dale and Todd recorded the sound separately from the video, which made Camtasia run much smoother. Also the sound quality is excellent.

Dale bought the equipment from a high-end guitar shop, which sells audio equipment mainly to musicians. So maybe Craig's Magica Blog isn't too far off ... Or the Magic Team ... (who wrote that anyway, it's great!).

Our Helpers this year were Todd and Summer. Todd was amazing on the audio equipment. Dale had figured out what needed to be done, and taught Todd on the fly, in very little time. Todd hit the ground running, with new equipment, and between the two of them, all the audio actually got recorded. This is a first for the conference. Usually we spend weeks trying to get reasonable audio from a very poor signal. This year: it's just great!

Summer is new to MSE, but she's handled huge conferences. She managed those various and sundry details that some of us tend to ignore, but are totally necessary. Like making sure people got signed in. She's amazing, and I hope we can work together to plan the next gig.

On editing .... Roberto Ramirez

Like I said, I'm editing the Camtasias. I actually learn more while I'm doing the editing than I do watching the presentations, because I'm not distracted by stuff like "do we need more coffee?". Also, like the rest of you, I can only watch one presentation at a time.

Right now I'm working on Roberto's class. As usual, it's not anything I could have thought of. Imagine taking a USB stick, plugging it into a random computer, and having your Magic app installed and connected to your "home base" computer somewhere. Really. He explains in detail how to do it.

Roberto, by the way, ALSO brought some full-scale video equipment which he used to record the first day. I haven't seen the results, but I'd suspect they are excellent. He is combining the video with Dale's audio, so you'll be able to see the "Magic team" with very good fidelity.
